History


Marco's Restaurant was founded in 1978 by Marco Giancotti and his wife Carmen.  They established a 60 seat restaurant at 177 Lisbon Street in Lewiston, with traditional Italian recipes handed down to Marco from his family in Calabria, Italy.  Guests were treated like true friends.  Marco's became an instant success.

In the early 80's, Marco expanded the seating capacity to near 200 and then became very popular for the larger parties, special occasions and holidays.

In 1987, Duane Arnold was hired.  Duane was a young and ambitious teenager who was willing to learn.  He worked side by side with Marco and other experienced chefs and quickly moved forward with his skills in the restaurant business.

In 1993, Steve Taylor joined the close team of chefs at Marco's.  This skilled and hard working young man fit right in, helping to keep Marco's successful for years to come. 

Duane and Steve worked well together and eventually decided that they wanted to won a restaurant of their own.  In the spring of 2000, the Giancotti's decided it was time to retire and at that time, we purchases Marco's Restaurant.

We continued to run the restaurant like our former predecessors with quality, pride, honesty and hard work. 
 

Due to a terrible fire in the summer of 2004, the historical building at 177 Lisbon Street in Lewiston was a total loss.

 

After a long and hard search, we eventually found a new home.  This new restaurant has been expanded to have a seating capacity of nearly 275 people.  It was designed with our diners in mind, offering the same great Italian cuisine for parties of only two, or for a full banquet room of guests.
